This local Northern Alliance Derby produced some really good racing despite the cold wet weather. Both teams were short of riders , but after 2 drawn races Bury took the lead. A fine pass from Neil Howarth on James carter with Jarman third. A further 7-3 and a well worked 6-4 over Murphy increased the home lead. The consistent James Carter took race 7 from Doyle and Milaninovic. Race 8 and a clear move by Darren Kent on grid 2 brought a rerun, all 4, from referee Rothwell, must be a Yorkshire rule. The visitors taking their first heat win 6-4. A real mix up in race 10 saw the visitors concede a 7-3 to Bury, Dave Murphy losing out. Howarth continued his unbeaten run taking race 13 and stopping Kent’s unbeaten run. Carter and Kent were too good for Whiting /Jarman in the 14th, whilst despite all Howarth’s effort, Dave Murphy held on to take the last race. A 79-66 Home victory with the visitors Heat leaders Kent 19 , Carter 18+1 and Murphy 16 providing most of the race wins. Bury's Neil Howarth 19 and Tom Doyle 15+1 produced their best scores of the year so far, with John Milaninovic scoring an excellent 10+5 bonus points.

Bury travel to Stockport next week for the 4s Match.
