Sunil Joshi signs for Indian Premier League

Sunil Joshi the Ramsbottom Cricket Club professional has dealt a hammer blow by signing for the Indian Premier League, just two months before the start of the new Lancashire League season.

Despite signing a contract to rejoin Rammy for the 2008 season, the India spinner would not be available until June, therefore losing out on ten matches.

Mick Everett, Ramsbottom Cricket Club's cricket chairman, was rightly disappointed. "We dont want to take on a pro who misses such a large chunk of the season, and we are now looking for a replacement for the whole season. We have one or two players in mind. Sadly money has a big say these days, and the lure of the dollars on offer in India is difficult to ignore."

Sunil Joshi played two years for Ramsbottom and was set to join for a third before this news ...
